FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 

What are your opening hours? We are open daily 7 Days a week from 10am-5pm. Our teas, coffees, and cakes are served all day, with breakfast and brunch available Monday to Saturday until 12:00 PM and Sundays until 11:45 AM, followed by lunches served daily until 3:30 PM and toasties available until 4:00 PM, while our High Teas can be booked daily for 2:30 PM or 3:00 PM with 24 hours' advance notice and a deposit.

Is there an admission fee to enter the water gardens? A small admission fee applies to enter and explore our historic sub-tropical water gardens if you’re not dining of £1 per person. Ticket purchases directly support the ongoing preservation, planting, and upkeep of the grounds. If your dining or having drink with us there is no admission fee to the gardens

Is the venue step-free and accessible for wheelchairs or pushchairs? Our main tearoom, indoor dining spaces, and customer facilities feature step-free access. The water gardens are set across natural terrain with gravel paths and gentle inclines; most primary routes are accessible, although we would say the gardens are partially wheelchair friendly.

Are dogs permitted on site? Yes, well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in our outdoor seating areas and throughout the water gardens. We ask that dogs remain on leads at all times to protect local wildlife and garden flora.- we also have dog ice cream available 

Are children welcome at the venue? Yes, absolutely! We are a family-friendly venue and welcome visitors of all ages. We offer a dedicated Children’s Menu, , high chairs, colouring in  and fantastic milkshakes that are always a hit! we also have a host of kids events throughout the year- so be sure to check out our upcoming events 

Please note: Children must be supervised by an adult at all times when visiting the sub-tropical water gardens due to the river, sluice gates, and areas of fast-flowing water.

Is there parking on-site? Yes, customer parking is available along church street, at St Laurence’s church ( small donation in the box we ask) *Alternatively there is parking at Upwey House  (DT3 5QE) if the Signs are out (please park on the grass on right as you go over the bridge) 

Where are you located, and how do I get there by public transport? We are situated in the historic village of Upwey, just off the A354 between Weymouth and Dorchester. Local bus routes stop nearby in Upwey village, and Upwey Railway Station is within reasonable walking distance. 

Do I need to book a table, or can I walk in? Walk-ins are always welcome for drinks, cakes, and casual daytime dining! However, advance reservations are strongly recommended for weekend lunches, traditional High Teas (24 hours notice & deposit required), and popular seasonal offerings like Sunday roasts.

Do you cater to dietary requirements and allergies? Yes. We offer dedicated vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options across our food and drink menus, including homemade gluten-free cakes and plant-based milk alternatives. Please inform our team of any severe allergies or dietary needs when ordering or making a booking reservation.

What is included in the traditional High Tea experience? Our signature High Tea includes a selection of freshly made finger sandwiches, warm homemade scones served with Dorset clotted cream and jam, a selection of sweet treats and savoury bites, and your choice of tea or coffee. Pre-booking is required for High Tea

Do you serve alcoholic beverages? Yes, we hold a full venue license and stock a curated selection of wines, local ciders, ales, spirits, and seasonal hot or chilled beverages to accompany your meal

Can you accommodate large group bookings or tour groups? Yes, we regularly host coach tours, community groups, and larger family gatherings. Please contact our team in advance to discuss group set menus and arrival arrangements.
